eBay On offer is this attractive early piece of Hummel . 13/2 " Meditation " .Young girl with a letter and a basket half full of flowers . Beautifully hand painted , especially the face .Nice early mark underneath .1937 onwards No crazing apparent . No chips or cracks .7" tall .No buy it now price available .Another Crown-type mark is sometimes confusing to collectors; some refer to it as the “Narrow Crown” and others the “Wide Ducal Crown.” This mark was introduced by Goebel in 1937 and used on many of its products. Goebel calls it the Wide Ducal Crown mark, so we shall adopt this name as well to alleviate confusion. To date, most dealers and collectors have thought this mark was never found on an M.I. Hummel piece. Goebel, however, in its newsletter Insights (Vol. 14, No. 3, pg. 8) stated that the mark was used “...rarely on figurines,” so we will defer to the company and assume there might be some out there somewhere. West Germany Hummel Singing Lesson MJ Hummel figurine features a little boy sitting and holding a horn while trying to harmonize with the little bird perched on his feet. According to my research online I believe this figuring was designed by master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1937. The bottom is impressed with "63" and Goebel's third trademark which dates this figurine from 1958 to 1972. I also believe this has been handpainted. Figuring measures 3" tall, 2.75" wide, and approximately 2" deep. Beautiful, vintage condition No breaks or chips. Comes
Goebel M.I. Hummel # 70 - "Holy Child" - 7.5" Tall (Largest Size) - Crown Trademark (TMK-1) - Master Painter Signed (Karl Oberender) - Temporarily Withdrawn in 1999 - Closed Edition - Glossy Lustrous Vibrant Colored Early Pre WW2 Example! HUM 70 – Holy Child - TMK-1 Height – 7.5" Tall Factory records indicate this hummel was originally modeled by a combination of modelers in 1937. There are some size, restyling and color variations between older and newer models. An ultra rare version exists, sold in a white overglaze (unpainted) finish at one time in Belgium. I have not seen one in recent years. The original name of this hummel was "Child Jesus" in some older catalogs. Holy Child was restyled in later years with newer models having the textured finish on gown and robe. This is a closed edition. Holy Child was temporarily withdrawn from production by Goebel December 31st 1990 but was back into production shortly thereafter until January 1999, when it was temporarily withdrawn once again. See below for the specifications: • Has "?" Crown Marking (TMK-1) incised on underside of base. • Incised Hummel Number "70" on underside of base and incised "M.I. Hummel" on rear side of base. • Hummel is at the tallest size of the catalogs height range of 6.75"-7.5", standing at 7.5" high. • Hand-signed and Numbered "KO5" by Master Painter Karl Oberender, per Master Painter pictured list on mihummel.org website. • Colors are Vibrant, Lustrous and Glossy. • Closed Edition. • Temporarily Withdrawn from production by Goebel December 31st 1990 and again in January 1999. • Hummel is in Excellent condition considering it's age and rarity! No Repairs! No Chips! No Touch Ups! There is some crazing present throughout the piece, very difficult to see for the untrained eye. You will need to use light and magnification to detect. View final few pictures, two with and others without light and magnification. May have some dust from sitting in the China Cabinet for decades. I did not want to damage it inadvertently by cleaning it. • Buyer to pay actual shipping expense determined by eBay.
